OUR STORY

The vision for the South West School of Worship began over 18 years ago when a local pastor prophetically spoke of a worship school in the South West. Around the same time, our former School Director, Claire, was awakened in the night with the phrase, “Expansion of the Church.” God gave her a clear vision to see worship teams equipped and resourced to strengthen the local church.
In 2018, God began stirring the heart of our founder, Jon Hudson, then Worship Pastor at St Matt’s Church, Plymouth. As we connected with worship leaders across the region, we repeatedly encountered teams who felt under-resourced, discouraged, or eager to grow in their calling and skills.
In early 2019, we gathered a team of worship leaders and pastors who shared a passion for Jesus and the local church. Among them was Claire, and the son of the pastor who had spoken the original prophetic word years before. Together, we developed a programme to connect, resource and empower worship leaders across Devon and Cornwall.
The South West School of Worship launched in 2019, welcoming a first cohort of 25 worship leaders and musicians. Although the Covid-19 pandemic paused further intakes in 2020, we continued supporting worship leaders through GATHER - gathering leaders for worship, prayer and networking encouragement.
We also sensed the Lord leading us to take some time to pray and connect with local teams to see what needs there were; we have hosted regional breakfasts and led worship teams days at local churches.
Today, we feel He is leading us to run another in-person school - you can find out more about this by CLICKING HERE
Our vision remains unchanged: to see worshippers connected, resourced and empowered to serve their local churches and be catalysts for the “Expansion of the Church” across the South West through worship.
