Who is the School of Worship for?
Primarily the South West School of Worship (SOW) has been designed for worship leaders and those leading worship teams across Devon and Cornwall aged 18+. However it has also proved to be excellent training for any member of a church worship team. Our heart for the SOW is to resource, equip and enable teams and leaders to be all that God has created them to be and called them to do, so it doesn't matter how big or small your church or team is.
Does it cost anything?
There is a fee of £350 per student for the SOW. This covers all of your training, resources and lunches on teaching days. The cost of the course could be funded by yourself, your church or a combination of both. We would encourage you to speak to your church leader about this prior to applying for a place on the course.
Does the school offer any financial aid or scholarships?
Our desire is to see those called to leading worship teams trained for the ministry and we have developed the programme to be as affordable and accessible as possible. However, we would hate for the cost to be a barrier of entry and so if the finances are of concern, we'd love to chat with you about this and see how we can help in this area. You can contact us here.
What happens if I miss a teaching day or webinar?
All of our teaching days and webinars are filmed and will be released to students after each session so you never have to miss a piece of teaching. However, we do expect students to be able to attend at least 75% of the course sessions in person. You can find all the key dates and times for this year's course here.
Where are the teaching days held?
Our 3 teaching days in the year are held at St Matthias Church, Plymouth. Please click here for travel information.
What is the application process?
Students can apply for the SOW through our website here. On completion of the online application form, our admin team will be in touch with your referee directly to request a reference. Once we have received this, your application will be reviewed by the team. We will then contact you to confirm whether you have been offered a place. At this point, you will be required to confirm your place by paying a £50 non-refundable deposit within 14 days of receiving your offer.
